Evaluating last week's prediction for this week, I said "By next Monday the national average will be $2.90 while prices in Canada will average 104.8c/L." Taking a look this morning, the average is $2.896 for the U.S. and 104.9c/L in Canada, just as close to the predicted prices as one can get.

I also said last week that prices would fall in MI, OH, IN, WI, IL, and KY. Prices fell quite a bit (near 10cts/gal) in MI, OH, IN, and KY, but rose slightly in WI and IL. On to what's to come for this week!

We started the week off with the Dow rising- retail sales also continue to march higher, signaling that consumers are getting out and spending more, which most certainly would also mean higher petroleum demand.

Prices fell in IN most of the week to around 2.65 at the lowest, but Friday PM, some stations started jumping to 2.85, a 10-20 cent jump for many.

The American people should be made aware of the trend toward monopolization of the great public information vehicles and the concentration of more and more power over public opinion in fewer and fewer hands.
Spiro T. Agnew
A lot of the folks on this forum probably don't know Spiro. He was our Vice President under Nixon. He suffered a lot of shame for being such a crooked person but he had a way with words.

I think the price of oil has as much to do with current gasoline prices as refinery prodution. With oil climbing way up and then falling only partly back, I see a near-term increase in prices of at least $0.10. Time will tell.

I love that I see some 2.809 prices this morning on the west side of Grand Rapids. Can we spread that trend and go lower?

3.00 in rhode island will put a major damper on the thanksgiving/christmas season. the fed's 600 billion of paper printed monopoly money did not trickle down to "We the People" but appears headed for another year of hugh bonuses for bankers and speculators as rewards for messing up the economy and keeping this state in a depression.

Over the long run, up, of course. The only thing that will change that trend is to drastically cut our consumption of oil.

I think the figures that indicate consumer spending may be a little warped. Yes, people may be spending more, but this is the time of the year that you will see more spending anyway because of the approaching holidays. Those figures are not necessarily an indicator of a recovering economy.(IMHO)
