First Florida exhibition game is coming up and To fans down in Dunedin are probably getting revved up. All we have to do now is change the title of this thread to 2011, but I don't think we can do that!

UP! Next season will be a really good one, if this one is any indication at all. They finished 85 & 77 - pretty spectacular for a team that was expected to finish last in the division and well below .500.
Can't wait for March!

As season winds down, they have had some triumphs. They did reasonably well during the month from hell-August when they played all top teams --going aa couple of games above 500. They've hit some milestones, who would have believed Bautista, and the young pitchers have looked pretty good. Where can they go from here?

Two homers - one a grand slam - making 54 on the season so far, and 124 RBIs - five RBIs last night alone.

Tonight is Farewell to Cito Gaston Night. The guy is a class act and will always be identified with the team's best years (so far). Cito has his detractors, but there are solid reasons for his name to be on the Level of Excellence.

all I can say is Boston didn't look like and east div 3rd place team. And the Jays looked like a powerhouse. Will the Jays win a series at Fenway for once?

Pretty spectacular performance last night! I actually prefer a closer game (a 1-0 pitchers' duel really gets me going), but a 16-2 loss looks good on the Sox!

Another tough series on the sked --Boston in Fenway Park.
Wouldn't it be good to be in central division playing the 3rd place team (Detroit 58-62) instead of 3rd team in east Boston (69-52). Gives an indication of strength of the East where most of the Jays' games are these days.

That was a pretty thrilling comeback last yesterday - and a good indication of the 'never say die' spirit the Jays have shown this season. A lot of negative 'pundits' early in the season are eating crow now. There may or may not be a post season this year, but the entertainment value sure has been tops.

So far 5-1 in the horrible 38-game gauntlet we face (all the best teams and all with an above .500 record.) Looking good. The young pitchers have shown some class and the hitters have been there too. How long can we stay above .500 in this horror schedule?
Also note that Jays with their record would be only 3 1/2 games out of the lead in Central and 5 in the west, that considering that they've already played at least 6 more games with the Yanks and Tampa and more with RedSox than any of those other division leaders.
As well, the Jays, while fourth, are closer in the wild card than any team in central or west other than the 3 (2 tied in central) division leaders.

Chris Carpenter, our old buddy who came up along with Halladay and then escaped via free agency after he was injured, is pitching Wed. night against Jays. In the meantime since he moved on, he's been to the World Series, among other things.

For last three years, they start strong and then in late spring, have a swoon that sends em down into the pack. Remember in '08 Gibbons was booted and Cito hired after a 5-game losing streak that followed a poort 10-game stretch about this time of year Last year they got wiped out in Boston and then lost some more games in sometime in May (a bit earlier than this time.).
Hopefully they'll bounce back in Tampa or in Colorado, but I'm not holding my breath.

They stumbled and now face an ongoing test. Say, how do you get out of the AL East or at least get a balanced schedule so you don't have to keep playing these same teams?

I hate to burst the Blue Jays bubble and please keep in mind I am a HUGE Blue Jay fan. But the next few series agains TB, NY, Phil St Louis which are all either 1st or 2nd in their division is the true test for this team. The next 20 games have all those teams and others that are near the top of their division.
We know that a) the home run barrage will not keep up b) the pitching although outstanding this year will break down at some time. History and sophmores speaks volumes. No starting pitcher on this years staff pitched more than 180 innings last year. c) If Lind and Hill don't get going soon there will be no pennant chance at all. d) the other teams now know the Jays are playing well and will step up for them more than usual.
Its been a fun ride lets hope it continues. The true test is over the next 20 games. If they go 10 and 10 it should be concidered a huge success. I suspect it will be more like 5 and 15 they will go. They are beating the teams they should now time to beat the best

Another great outing by Romero --keeps the ball rolling. Not as great an outing, tho, as Doc Halladay had on Sunday. (On the unlikely chance you missed it he pitched a perfect game-=27 straight outs) Wouldn't that have looked good in a Jays uniform? Wells & Batista are continuing to whack the ball -- but a big test awaits in Tampa and the Yanks.

Feast or famine! Either they can't score at all or they post double digit markers like last night. Can't say we lack for entertainment. though ;-))
Say, Riber, can you edit the topic to read "2010 Jays"? Or perhaps start another, more current topic?

Last night's (Monday) game against the Sox was one of those "too bad someone has to lose" affairs. What a slugfest! At almost four hours it sure was full value for the paying patrons.

The downward slide continues for the Jays, being shut-out yesterday by the Rays, in a 6-0 loss.
With a 10-9 record, the Jays are still in 3rd place, 4 games behind the Rays in the AL East.
Currently, the Jays are losing 8-6 in the bottom of the 4th to the Red Sox!

A close 4-3 win over the RoyALs last night couldn't once again attract the Jays faithful to attend. Just 10,565 on hand at Rogers Centre to see the victory - the stadium's 2nd smALlest crowd ever!

The 3-1 loss this afternoon, currently keeps the Jays at 3rd behind the Yankees and the Rays in the AL East with a 7-6 record. They're ALready 2-1/2 games behind the Yanks!

An 11-1 loss last night bumped the Jays into a tie with the Rays for first in the AL East with a 6-3 record.
Let's hope the Jays can rebound tonight for a split of the series with the ChiSox.
